Mauch's Sailboat Guide FAQ's PDF Print E-mail

What is the online service? When you subscribe to our online service, not only will you get 24/7 access to all boats currently in the Guide, but we will also be periodically adding new boats to the online database.  Each boat has 1 page of information presented that is identical to information presented in the books (see the Sample Page); the information is in a pdf file that you can either open to view and print, or download to your hard drive for viewing at any time.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view the pdf files; click here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader

How much is the online service?  We offer monthly, quarterly, and yearly plans; the costs are $29.95 per month, $68.95 per quarter, or $79.95 per year. Buy the 6 Volume set and get your membership FREE for a year and FREE priority shipping for a limited time.

How are subsciptions paid for?  We use the service of PayPal Subscriptions, and your payment will be processed automatically at the beginning of each payment period.  Since the Launch Specials are a one-time special, the payment will be processed through PayPal regular payments and when you renew in the future the regular subscription plan you select will be processed through PayPal Subscriptions.

Can I cancel my subscription?  You can cancel your subscription at any time before your next payment is due; you will need to login to your PayPal account to  cancel the subscription.

Do I have to have a PayPal account? In order to register for a regular subscription, you must have a PayPal account since the payments are processed by PayPal Subscriptions; in order to purchase books or one of the Launch Specials you do not need to have a PayPal account since those are one-time payments. When you reach the PayPal payment page, just select to pay by credit card rather than logging in to a PayPal account.

Why do I need both the online service and a set of books?  The books are handy to have since they're portable, can be accessed quickly, and you can easily make copies from them.  On the other hand, since we have the ability to continually add sailboat models to the online database, if you're a subscriber you will have access to additional boats on an ongoing basis rather than waiting for the next volume of the Guide to be released.

What is the difference between the 6 volumes? Each volume is the result of continued research, thereby adding on to each other to create an expanded reference source. If you are looking for an older boat, it might be in any one of the 6 volumes (see online Table of Contents).  If you are looking for a newer boat, keep in mind that any boat introduced after 1991 cannot be in Vol. I as that was the publishing date; accordingly, no model introduced after '94, '98, 2004 or 2009 can be in Vol. II, III, IV, or V respectively.

Why don't you update the entire set to group Volumes by years covered? There are several reasons we don't do this. First, to do so would require our long-time customers to buy the entire set each time we add new boats, rather than just being able to acquire the new additions. Second, an enormous amount of time and money would be required to change the layouts of the books and we wouldn't be producing any new, valuable information. Third, each time we wanted to add a new volume we would be required to go back through all of the previous volumes and change the layouts again.

Why is my boat not in the Guide? There are literally thousands of sailboat models and it would be virtually impossible to include each of them. Boats are included based on the likelihood that they will be on the used or new boat market in the US. If a boat is not included, this should not be perceived as a negative statement; it might be that we just didn't have the appropriate information to include it.

Multihulls... will be added in the near future. ( I am going to have multihulls in Vol. 5 and opening up a whole new array of boats.)

How much do the books cost? A single volume is $29.95 + $9 shipping and handling. The 6-volume set of Volumes I, II, III, IV, V & VI is $159.95 + $21.95 shipping and handling.

How are the books shipped and how long should I allow for delivery? Allow 2-3 weeks for shipping & delivery of domestic orders, 5-10 days for Priority Mail domestic orders. Priority Mail is an additional $2 per book.

Are there any multihulls in the Guide? Volume V & VI includes multihulls.

What lengths are covered in the Guide? Boats included range from 20' to over 100'. For specific models, see our online Table of Contents.

Do you sell boats? No, we don't broker boats any more; the books keep us too busy!

What types of payment do you accept? We accept Visa, Mastercard, checks, and money orders. All orders are prepaid. Credit card orders may be placed via our secure online order form. If you wish to pay by check or money order, please mail to Mauch's Sailboat Guide, PO Box 331152, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233-1152. In all instances a copy of your invoice will be included in the package with your order.

What is your return policy? All book orders may be returned within 30 days for full refund, but all membership orders have 3 days to be returned. Please reference your invoice number when making a return.
